Meta Ray-Ban Display ships at $799 with Neural Band

Meta Ray-Ban Display, the first consumer AI glasses with a full-color in-lens display, shipped September 30 at $799 including the Neural Band. International rollout to Canada, France, Italy, UK in early 2026.

Meta Ray-Ban Display launched at Meta Connect on September 30, 2025, at $799 — the price includes both the glasses and the Meta Neural Band [Meta Quest blog].

── What shipped ──

This is Meta's first consumer-grade AI smart glasses with a full-color, high-resolution in-lens display. The hardware combines:

  • Microphones, speakers, cameras
  • Compute and AI on-device
  • A new input modality via the Neural Band (wrist-worn EMG sensor)

Initial availability was at limited brick-and-mortar retailers in the US — Best Buy, LensCrafters, Sunglass Hut, and Ray-Ban stores. Expansion to Canada, France, Italy, and the UK is planned for early 2026.

── Why it matters ──

This is the first product on the path from the Ray-Ban Stories camera-only glasses to the Orion AR prototype. Display + audio + AI in a sub-$1,000 form factor is a genuine consumer product, not a developer kit.

The Neural Band is the underrated piece. Existing AR glasses input is voice or limited touch. EMG-based gesture input from a wristband produces silent, social-acceptable control — which is the actual unlock for outdoor and commute usage.

The display is small and the use cases are constrained: notifications, navigation cues, AI assistant responses, photo previews. This is not Orion. It is a stepping stone.

For developers, the consumer reach matters more than the technical capability. If Ray-Ban Display gets meaningful sell-through, third-party app development becomes worth investing in. If it sells like Vision Pro, the dev ecosystem stays niche.

── Editor's take ──

The price point is the test. $799 is in the same range as a high-end pair of Ray-Ban prescription sunglasses with photochromic lenses. If Meta has built a product where the AI is good enough to justify that premium, this is the first credible mass-consumer AR product. If not, it is another developer-curiosity device. The early 2026 international rollout numbers will be the signal.
